During this lesson we're going to learn how to pronounce monosyllabic words which contain the letters: AL.
Some monosyllabic words, which contain the letters AL followed immediately by another consonant, often make the: a, a longer sound which can either be: aww, or: ahh.
Here are some examples of words with the: aww sound:
Note that in the words: talk and walk, the letter L is silent, but in some words such as: halt and malt, the letter L is pronounced.
Now here are some words with the: ahh sound.
Note that in all of these words, the letter L is silent
Monosyllabic words which contain the letter A, immediately followed by a double LL, nearly always make the: A into an: aww sound.
